Wintertime
Last night was one of the coldest nights I experienced over the last years, with the temperature dropping to -23°C here at my parents and still not rising above -16°C. While I hate it to be cold those extreme temperatures also have their advantages: frost patterns. The window panes in my parents house are a bit older, and while they are multiply glazed, they aren't as effective in preventing frost patterns from forming as the window panes I'm used to. Thus, when I opened my eyes this morning and glanced outside, I was greeted by the very first frost patterns I ever laid eyes upon. Of course, I made pictures
We later went into town for some shopping, and one of things I got was some soap bubble solution and blow-hole-thingy. I got inspired by this awesome pictures of frozen soap bubbles and had to try it out for myself. The results were interesting. Why we didn't manage to get such great pictures like the ones behind that link, we discovered that frozen bubbles (awesome game btw – sorry for the off topic
) tend to stay alive way longer than their unfrozen relatives. And they produce fascinating debris when popping, as you can see in the first picture below:
Sadly though, the fun didn't last long, as our limbs simply started to lose any feeling thanks to the cold. But I might have to repeat this later
