Tagging about linux desktop apps

Got tagged by demod and varuolo1):

  1. blog a list with your favorite destktop Linux software (as many or few you want)
  2. add links to the software project's websites
  3. post these rules
  4. tag three other Linux using bloggers

I fear I won't introduce much new noteworthy software, but here are my choices nevertheless (in no particular order):

  • Xfce – window/desktop manager of choice
  • Firefox – my favourite browser, the extension system is the reason it hasn't been overtaken by Opera to this date on my list
  • Thunderbird – mail client
  • Eclipse – what would a Java programmer do without it? I use it for pretty much anything remotely resembling a larger project as well though
  • Thunar – filemanager
  • Synergy – software kvm-switch… somewhat. I blogged about it some months ago :-)
  • Pidgin – Multi-Protocol instant messenger (I still have important people on my ICQ buddylist and somewhat don't like those gateway thingies…)
  • XChat – for my IRC needs
  • GIMP – everyone needs an image manipulation tool, might as well be a good one ;-)
  • Inkscape – if SVG comes out and wants to play
  • Jabref – bibtex bibliography management for my research
  • Freemind – mindmap tool, use it for quite a lot of stuff these days
  • Tomboy – desktop-wiki thingy
  • GnoTime – Timetracker
  • Unison – Syncing tool
  • VirtualBox – for when I need a virtualized version of “the other OS
  • colorname – you won't believe it, but I actually use it ;-)
  • Audacious – mighty little mp3 player
  • ROXterm – terminal emulator
  • yEd – tool for graph editing

So now for the hard part – tagging linux-using bloggers. I just hope you guys even read this ;-)

1) I'm tempted to create a graph out of those cross-tagging round-robin issues today ;-)
