====== Chocolate Bytes ====== {{ blog:media:chocolate-byte-2006.jpg?320|}} .. aka "The fastest way of making cookie-like things around Christmas". We've been making them now three years in a row and they are always well received. For one tray of something like 15--20 of them you'll need **100g Chocolate** (milk and white both work, we usually take either the one with the sportive knight or the one with the cow with the pigment defect) and **30g Cornflakes**((or approx. 300ml, we use a drinking glass for measurement)). Melt the chocolate in a water quench, pour the molten goodness into a bowl and add the cornflakes. With a spoon, give it a good mix so that all cornflakes are equally covered in chocolate. Then take two small spoons and use them to make small heaps of the mass on a tray((or the top of your kitchen counter or table, or whatever flat and even surface you can find in or around your kitchen which won't be needed for a couple of hours)) with baking parchment on it. After that you'll have to wait until the chocolate has hardened. This will take some time and I can't even give an estimate here as we usually just make the C.B.s in the evening and harvest them on the next morning -- but when you can touch them without them falling apart and your fingers becoming sticky, they are probably done ;-) Making one tray usually keeps me busy for something like 15min, so they are really a quick hack in terms of sweets. If you got a bit more time on your hands, I can recommend [[wp>Chocolate_chip_cookies|Chocolate Chip Cookies]]. We already baked them three times this holiday season((they get eaten faster than I can bake them...)), following [[http://usaerklaert.wordpress.com/2007/12/04/das-eingedeutschte-und-kommentierte-rezept-fur-chocolate-chip-cookies/|this recipe [DE]]]. {{tag>baking christmas}} ~~LINKBACK~~ ~~DISCUSSION~~
